Guarantee and Safety Information
Southern Firepits: Guarantee, Safety & Disclaimer
Heat Transfer & Surface Safety
Southern Firepits are designed with an elevated base that allows air to circulate underneath helping to reduce heat transfer to the surface below. However, heat transfer is not completely eliminated and the surface beneath the fire pit should always be monitored during use.
Our fire pits have been trialed on wooden decks without issue. However, as decking materials and outdoor surfaces vary in construction, finish and heat resistance, we cannot guarantee that every surface is suitable for use with a fire pit.
For added protection, we recommend using a Southern Firepits Heat Mat. It can provide an additional layer of protection and protect the surface from hot embers.
Your attention is required at all times while the fire pit is in use and until it has completely cooled. Never leave the fire pit unattended while burning or during the cooling period. Always place the fire pit on a stable, level surface with the legs fully extended.
Southern Firepits accepts no responsibility for damage to decks, patios, lawns or other surfaces resulting from the use of the fire pit.
General Safety Notice
• Use outdoors only in a well-ventilated area.
• Keep away from buildings, flammable objects and overhanging branches.
• Never use indoors, in garages, tents or enclosed spaces.
• Keep children and pets at a safe distance.
• Never leave a burning fire unattended.
• Allow the unit to cool completely before handling, cleaning or storing.
• Burn only dry, seasoned wood or approved fuels such as wood pellets.
• Do not burn trash, plastics or accelerants such as gasoline or lighter fluid.
• Check for cracks, warping or damage before each use.
• Observe local fire restrictions and weather advisories before lighting.
First Use Warning
Your fire pit is fully constructed from premium stainless steel - your fire pit is coated with a high-temperature black paint that must be properly cured before full-intensity use.
Curing Instructions
• Start a small fire for 30 to 60 minutes.
• Increase to medium heat for 60 to 120 minutes.
• Allow the fire pit to cool naturally. Do not use water.
During the curing process, smoke, odour or light vapour may be visible. This is normal as the coating bonds to the stainless surface.
About the Curing Process
Stainless steel withstands high heat, but painted coatings may experience normal fading or dulling over time due to repeated heat cycles. This is expected and not considered a defect.
Manufacturing Guarantee
Southern Fire Pits products are built using premium materials and designed for years of reliable outdoor performance.
We guarantee our fire pits against manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship for 30 days from the date of purchase. This guarantee covers defects that affect the structure or normal operation of the fire pit under standard domestic use.
Exclusions
The guarantee does not cover:
• Normal wear and tear or cosmetic changes such as scratches, scratches to paint, dents or discoloration
• Heat-related fading or color changes of painted or stainless finishes
• Damage caused by misuse, neglect over-firing or improper fuels
• Failure to follow safety or maintenance instructions
• Commercial use, alterations or third-party modifications
If a manufacturing defect is confirmed, Southern Fire Pits may repair or replace the defective component or unit at its discretion.
Smokeless Performance Disclaimer
Southern Firepits smokeless models are engineered to provide a cleaner burn with greatly reduced smoke. However, no fire pit can be completely smoke-free under all conditions.
Smoke may appear temporarily due to:
- Wind or sudden changes in airflow
- Moist or unseasoned firewood
- Treated or chemically treated wood
- Low temperatures during ignition or shutdown
- Overfilling the fire pit
- Fuel running low or incorrect loading
- Blocked air vents or restricted airflow
These conditions are normal and may temporarily affect smokeless performance. Southern Firepits does not guarantee completely smoke-free operation under all conditions.
When used correctly with dry, seasoned firewood, your fire pit will provide an efficient low-smoke experience.
Finish and Material Notice
Painted Stainless Steel Fire Pits
Our black painted models use a high-temperature heat-resistant coating. Due to repeated exposure to extreme heat, fading or discoloration can occur. This is a natural characteristic and is not covered under warranty.
Stainless Steel Fire Pits
Bare stainless steel models will naturally discolor, darken or develop a heat patina. These cosmetic changes are normal and do not affect performance or longevity.
To maintain the finish, store your fire pit in a dry location and use a protective cover when not in use.
